Evernote: The ultimate notetaking and note collection tool. I use this with a Fujitsu ScanSnap in order to maintain a mostly paperless office.

Feedly: See this post.

Firebug: Don’t design or develop for the web without it.

FireFTP: Lightweight and terribly reliable.

Highrise: If you need very granular sales or donation tracking, I’d go with Salesforce, but otherwise 37signals’ thoughtful, beautiful CRM is the perfect tool for communications management. Also check out 37signals’ Basecamp, which I use to manage a number of Sudan advocacy projects.

Mint.com: Personal finance tracking made easy.

Peter Singer’s The Life You Can Save: A convincing argument for increasing our voluntary contributions to best-in-class charities/nonprofits. I don’t subscribe to Singer’s brand of utilitarianism (my philosophical hero is the anti-utilitarian John Rawls), but I think he presents a home run argument in this book.

Dropbox: No-hassle and seamless file backup.
